Camp Recount-Georgia Harris
The bell was clanging to signal the start of the first activity.I was really excited. Our first activity was the flying fox.You had to wear harnesess because the flying fox was so high. You got a bit of a wedgie when you put them on because they had to be pulled tight for safety reasons.Next,we all had to line up to go on.Everyone was pushing, shoving and arguing because they all wanted to go first.”You're wasting your time arguing like that,”the instructor Katie said.”You will only get fewer turns on it.”After that,we all lined up pretty sharpish.
I was second after a boy called Eli.By the time my turn was up I was getting a bit nervous.”You'll be fine, just jump off the platform,”Livvy said.So I took a deep breath and jumped. It was really fun,I went wizzing past Mrs Baxter who was cheering me on.I almost touched the end,but I wasn't heavy enough.I slowly drifted back to where Mrs Baxter was waiting. To get down you had to take off the safety rope,by uncliping a carabeina.Next, you chuck a cold up rope that hung round your shoulder onto the ground and then you pull a leaver called the penguin. When you have pulled the lever you get let down slowly.
On my second go,I got to hang upside down.It was harder for me to go because I was too tall to start off upside down like the others,I had to go upside down while I was going down the flying fox!We had the option of throwing a rubber chicken into a hula hoop while we were going down.I opted in to do that,so when I was going down I was holding the chicken and I threw it down blindly because my hair was in my face. Then I heard the sound of clapping and realized that I had got the chicken bang in the middle of the hoop.
It was a really fun activity and I would have loved to spend more time on it.It was one of my favourite activities on camp.
